Ed Lyman, Large Whale Entanglement Response Coordinator at the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, will be in Petersburg this week to train and answer questions on disentangling humpback whales. The Petersburg Marine Mammal Center (PMMC) is hosting a Q&A session with Ed this Friday, June 30th at 7 p.m. in the Borough Assembly Chambers. PMMC recognizes that this is the busy summer fishing season, however it is a challenge to get Ed from Hawaii to Alaska. Hopefully in the future his schedule will allow for better timing

The seine activities will be conducted as a one day charter each week over a 5-week period. The contract vessel(s) will be responsible for their own crew and supplies including food, fuel, and net.
